Being yourself within a SYSTEM
In Hager Marketing Group, we talk all the time about having a SYSTEM to build your business. People often wonder, just exactly WHAT IS that system and how can I fit into it? Sometimes people fear that by following a system, they will lose their own personality or identity or have to try to “be like someone else”.
Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, success in network marketing depends on being yourself, finding your own passion and your own “zone”. A system doesn’t change or override that. A system is just a series of duplicatable tools and/or philosophies to be utilized by the individuals within an organization.
So let’s talk about the HAGER MARKETING GROUP (HMG) SYSTEM first, and then let’s look at how to find your own place within it.
First, the HMG system is made up of an underlying philosophy, which is this: In order to build a big and profitable network marketing business, we have to learn to promote leaders; not just maintain followers.
This philosophy leads to a whole series of behaviors designed to build leaders: we encourage personal growth and leadership reading; we teach the use of affirmations and visualization to change self-defeating behavior patterns; we encourage each other to take progressively larger roles of responsibility in producing results for the team as a whole; we encourage each other to accept that change and challenge are always part of an expanding life, and we offer a system of recognition as people develop their leadership abilities.
The HMG system also provides a whole tool-box full of business building tools: online and conference call trainings on such things as the basics of network marketing (like 3-way calling, chain of solution, making an effective presentation, closing and handling objections); daily live conference calls where top income earners explain the business to your prospects to assist you in sponsoring; in person Prosperity Meetings and trainings in an ever- growing number of cities to provide face-to-face support for you and your team; we have pre-written emails to send out to your prospects, and scripts for inviting, handling objections and closing. We even provide training and support in using Facebook, Twitter, and other social media to build your business online. We have provided online “capture” pages that you can send your prospects to for information and to get them interested.
With so many great tools and trainings in the HMG system, what is YOUR part to play and how can you find a way to use the system to explode your business?
The first and most important step is to find your WHY: the thing you are passionate about, the thing that drives you to build this business. It usually starts out as a tiny little flame of excitement and hope. It’s your job to identify this little flame, nurture and protect it, and build it into a BLAZING PASSION within your heart and soul that will carry you to your dreams.
No one can stop you from doing this except you. And no one can grant it to you……except you.
This passion within is every individual. The longer I am in this business, the more I see that YOU are not doing this business for the same reason I am, and I am not doing it for the same reason that Brad is, or Steven is, or Bill is……..people do things for THEIR REASONS and NOT YOURS.
So finding your own reasons, and then letting yourself shine with your own talents and passions……….within the system………..is the KEY. And then passing that on to your team members……helping them discover their own reasons, and helping them give themselves permission to shine with their own light.
It has taken me a long time to figure this out. I have come to realize, however, that letting and encouraging each person to be himself or herself…….and giving each person permission to let their own individual light shine, in their own way..……..is crucial to team success.
I like encouraging people to build the business at their own pace, in tune with their own rhythm……..letting product people be product people………and opportunity people be opportunity people……….and some (like me) BE BOTH.
Which is not to say that I am not ALWAYS on the lookout for people like me who like to build the business fast…………I am! It’s just that only about 10% of the population are DRIVERS like me……….and it is not productive to try to make anyone be someone or something they are not.
Accepting people for who they are……..seeing them as they could be…….and giving them the support and tools to get to where they want to be……….that is what a true leadership system is all about.
Success within the HMG System doesn’t require you to GIVE UP being who you are. It requires you to BECOME fully who you are………..you will be challenged, inspired, stretched, recognized, supported…….and celebrated as you make the journey!
And at the end of the day…..it’s all about the journey. And about taking it with people you like, admire and enjoy!
